Shampoo (the “Service”) is operated by 20min, Inc(“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Shampoo mobile application and the website at shampoo.app. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: phone number, display name, profile photo, date of birth, and preferences you provide during signup.
• Content: messages, photos, and other material you share through the Service.
• Device & usage data: device identifiers, operating system, IP address, approximate location, and app interaction logs.
• Communications: records of support requests and feedback you send to us.

2. Phone Number & SMS Data

We collect your phone number solely to verify account ownership at signup and login, and to secure your account through two-factor authentication (2FA). When you enter your phone number during signup, we send a one-time 6-digit verification code by SMS via Twilio.

We do not share your mobile information, including phone numbers, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with service providers that deliver SMS on our behalf (currently Twilio), strictly to send the verification code. These providers are contractually bound to use your information only to provide the service.

Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier and plan. Message frequency is limited to verification codes you request; we do not send marketing SMS.

You can opt out of SMS by replying STOP to any verification message. Opting out will end SMS delivery from this program; because SMS verification is required to log in, opting out may prevent you from accessing your account. Reply HELP for assistance, or email support@shampoo.app.

3. How We Use Information

• To create and maintain your account.
• To verify your identity and secure access through SMS-based 2FA.
• To match you with other users based on the preferences you provide.
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
• To respond to support requests and improve the Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. Sharing of Information

We share information only in the following cases:

• Service providers that process data on our behalf (for example, Twilio for SMS delivery, AWS for hosting, analytics vendors). They are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Website analytics and advertising measurement providers, including Meta, may receive website usage events such as page views and app download button clicks through pixels, cookies, or similar technologies. We do not send phone numbers, mobile account content, or SMS verification data through these website pixels.
• Legal compliance when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of 20min, Inc, our users, or others.
• Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy commitments.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share mobile information with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain account information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings; upon deletion, your personal information is removed from active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations or to resolve disputes.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at support@shampoo.app to exercise these rights.

7. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
