Program overview

Shampoo is a social app operated by 20min, Inc. To protect user accounts, Shampoo uses phone-number verification and two-factor authentication (2FA). We send one-time SMS verification codes so you can prove ownership of your phone number during signup and login. This page describes how the program works and how users provide consent.

How users opt in (Call to Action)

  1. A user downloads the Shampoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and taps Sign up.
  2. The app shows a phone-number entry screen with the following consent language directly above the “Continue” button:
    “By entering your phone number and tapping Continue, you agree to receive a one-time SMS verification code from Shampoo for account verification and two-factor authentication. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.”
  3. The user enters their phone number and taps Continue. This action constitutes affirmative opt-in consent to receive the verification SMS.
  4. Shampoo sends a one-time 6-digit code via SMS through our provider (Twilio) to the number provided.
  5. The user enters the code in the app to complete verification.

Program details

  • Program name: Shampoo Account Verification (2FA).
  • Purpose: phone-number verification and two-factor authentication only. No marketing or promotional SMS.
  • Message frequency: up to 5 messages per 24-hour period, corresponding to verification requests the user initiates.
  • Costs: Message and data rates may apply. Shampoo does not charge a fee for SMS delivery.
  • Supported carriers:All major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and most regional carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • SMS provider: Twilio Inc.

Opt-out & help

  • Reply STOP to any verification message to opt out of the program.
  • Reply HELP to receive assistance, or email support@shampoo.app.
  • Because SMS verification is required to log in, opting out may prevent you from accessing your Shampoo account.

Privacy & data handling

We do not share your mobile information, including phone numbers, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS provider (Twilio) to deliver verification codes. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
